Therapy for Neurodivergent Adults in Nevada & Utah

When you spent a lot of your life trying to function in ways that don’t actually work for your brain.

Being neurodivergent can affect far more than attention and productivity. It can shape how you experience relationships, emotions, sensory input, expectations, work, and the constant effor of trying to keep up with what you’re “supposed” to be able to do.

Therapy can be a place to better understand how your brain works, address the things that are genuinely causing problems, and stop treating every difference like something you need to fix.

When you’ve gotten really good at compensating

Sometimes “high functioning” just means nobody sees how much work it takes.

You may have spent years finding ways to compensate, mask, over-prepare, or push through things that seem easier for other people. Maybe you’re successful at work but completely depleted afterwards. Maybe you can manage complicated responsibilities but regularly forget why you walked into a room. Maybe social situations require an internal flowchart nobody else seems to need.

From the outside, you may look like you’re doing fine. That doesn’t mean it isn’t costing you something to keep doing it.

What we might work on

Executive Functioning

Getting started, shifting between tasks, managing time, remembering things, prioritizing, or trying to make traditional productivity systems works for you.

Emotional Regulation

Experiencing emotions intensely, becoming overwhelmed quickly, or needing more time to recover after stress.

Masking & Burnout

The exhaustion that can come from constantly monitoring yourself, adapting, performing, or trying to meet expectations that don’t fit.

Sensory Overload
Understanding how noise, crowds, interruptions, environments, or other sensory experiences affects your nervous system.

Relationships & Communication
Navigating differences in communication, social expectations, conflict, boundaries, and the very fun experience of wondering what somebody actually meant by that text.

Anxiety, Trauma, & Self-Trust
Working through the impact of being misunderstood, crticized, excluded, overwhelmed, or repeatedly told that things shouldn’t be as difficult as they feel.

How I Approach Therapy

We’re not trying to turn you into someone else’s version of “normal”

Therapy shouldn’t become another place where you’re expected to perform correctly. We’ll look at what’s actually causing difficulty in your life and separate that from the things you’ve simply learned you’re “supposed” to do differently.

That might mean developing strategies that work better with your brain, understanding patterns of overwhelm or shutdown, addressing anxiety or trauma, practicing boundaries and communication, or figuring out where you’ve been spending enormous amounts of energy trying to appear okay. My approach may incorporate cognitive and behavioral strategies, nervous system regulation, mindfulness, part-informed work, and EMDR when trauma or distressing experiences are part of what you’re carrying.

The goal isn’t to make you less neurodivergent. It’s to help you understand yourself better and build a life that requires less fighting against yourself.

Maybe you don’t need to try harder. Maybe you need something that works differently.

You don’t need to arrive with everything figured out, or even be sure which parts of what you’re experiencing are related to neurodivergence. We can start with what’s making life harder right now and work from there.

I offer online therapy for neurodivergent adults throughout Nevada and Utah.
